… AND THEIR THREE WORDS WERE:

PERCEPTION, MODERATION, DECISION

One of the first things you learn as a parent is that all of your children are different. Temperaments, Personalities, Likes & Dislikes, Goals and Aspirations are all different. While this is what makes a family exciting and interesting, it is also what make parenting a challenge.

It wasn’t long before I realized that each of my three children had a personality trait that I would have to concentrate on to help them with living a successful life. And, interestingly enough, in the case of my children they were off-shoots of their Temperament.

My oldest daughter is a Melancholy. As a result, she was always somewhat skeptical of people’s motivations and intent. As Melancholies are also pessimistic, she had to battle always looking at others with a jaundice eye. As a result, the word that I “assigned” to her was “Perception.” This is a very important issue, as, for the most part, Perception is 90% of Reality!

My son, a Choleric, always had to have the most, the biggest, the fastest, the best. He would look at the menu in a restaurant only to find the most expensive item, because that is what he wanted to order whether he might like the food or not. So, the word that was given to him was “Moderation.” It is a concept that that I am not sure he has mastered to this very day!

The “baby” was Phlegmatic, and was about as laid back as her Daddy! The issue that she had to deal with was shedding her favorite phrase, “I don’t care.” As you undoubtedly already know, there are many, many times in life when your future happiness is based on the choices you make today. As a result, her word was “Decisions.”

Now, I know you may be thinking, “Welll, Floyder, that was interesting and all, but what the smash does it have to do with me?” And, your question would be legitimate! I have told you all of this to set the table for the following question: “In dealing with you and your life, what word would our Heavenly Father give you?

As you can see, this may take more than a little introspection on your part to discover what your “word” is. The Good News is, if you ask Him, God will not only help you recognize what your word is, but also help you “conquer” it as well!

I would like to point out to you, however, that you shouldn’t be too surprised if, when you seek God’s assistance in finding your word, that He will reveal more than one to you. If that is the case, don’t be dismayed! For God will not only point your words out to you, He will also help you be victorious when dealing with them!

Oh, what is my word you ask? Well, I would list them for you, but I think there is a 500,000 word limit for a Blog, and I don’t want to violate those parameters!
