DO YOU KNOW ALL THE VERSES IN THE BIBLE?

bible surpriseRecently my daughter and her family were preparing for a road trip and asked me to pray over their vehicle before they left. As usual when I pray, I claimed several verses of scripture in my prayer. When I finished, my thirteen year old granddaughter innocently looked up at me and asked, “Grandpa, do you know all the verses in the Bible.”

Now, there are a couple of things you have to take into consideration before you ask, “Just how naïve is that child?” First of all, she has grown up her whole life knowing that I am The Bible Guy! And, she has heard me pray many times for all sorts of situations, and every time I pray I incorporate verses of scripture that pertain to the occasion. To her, as you can see, it seemed reasonable to ask how much scripture, exactly, I know.

I assured her, of course, that no, I don’t know all of the verses in the Bible, but that I have studied and learned a great number of them: Especially the ones that include promises that we can claim at the appropriate time: Ones that tell us we can “Send out the Ministering Spirits on our Behalf”; that “By His stripes we are healed;” that we can “Seek the Peace that Passeth all Understanding.”

As I pondered on this a bit I began to wonder how many other people, including Christians, have studied the Word enough to know what promises that are available to them. Then I wondered if those who know the promises, also know the condition that is attached to each promise. In fact, I then began to wonder if most people even realize that there is a condition for each Promise!

With that thought in mind, I feel compelled to share a few Promises and their Conditions with you today:

Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

II Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation

Philippians 4:6-9Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Romans 8:28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 15:7-8If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

While this is but a very small sampling of the some 5467 promises in the Word of God, I think you are able to get my drift regarding Promises and Conditions. The exceedingly GOOD NEWS is that none of God’s Promises, and none of their Conditions, are kept secret or hidden from us! Like California’s ‘49ers of a bygone era, all you have to do is dig into the Word of God for all the Golden Nuggets hidden there just for you … as long as you keep the Conditions associated with them!!!
